Genuine caring comes from a fully engaged heart. If your heart is not in it, care will be given out of guilt or obligation. Bring your loving attention to the object of your care and you'll be amazed by how much joy you feel.

“Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around.” –Leo Buscaglia

ACTION STEPS

Self-care is how you show you genuinely care about yourself. Carve out time for your health and well-being each day and you will have more to give to others. When you take good care of your body and mind, your heart and spirit will take care of you.

You never know what an act of genuine caring will do for someone. Many lives have been touched by people who went out of their way to show kindness and compassion. Be the light in someone's darkness. You could be the spark that ignites their inner fire.
When you truly care about a project you will stay with it until completion. You'll find a way to overcome obstacles and keep moving forward. This wholehearted approach guarantees that you will finish what you start.

A lack of care shows up as excuses, distraction, multitasking, apathy, confusion, and impatience. Notice these behaviors and feelings when they occur and take a step back to determine what you really care about.

If mistakes and failures stop you from making progress this is a sign that your heart is not in it. Either put your heart into it or choose another goal, project, or dream that activates your deepest sense of caring.

It's easy to genuinely care for our furry friends. They put their whole heart into loving their human companions and they teach us how to live in the moment. Being fully present in return is an act of genuine caring.

Caring is how human beings are wired. That is why people often risk their lives to save others. For example: firefighters, police officers, and servicemen and women put their lives on the line without giving it a second thought. Recall a time when you gave of yourself through an act of genuine caring. Now remember a time when you received genuine care. Be aware of how good it feels to give and receive care from the heart.
